Telemetry

The Telemetric T646 is used everyday on a multitude of
PRM oxidizers. This unit eliminates the need for a separate chart
recorder and allows the user to access the unit from the internet.
The T646 reads T1, T2 temperatures and airflow as
well as other parameters if needed and it provides reporting that is
acceptable by all State Agencies as an approved method of data logging.

Oxidizers

PRM has been manufacturing oxidizers for the remediation market for nearly 10
years. The unique challenge of applying the correct oxidizer to the
application can be a matter of Safety.
As per NFPA 86, the maximum loading allowable of VOCs in an oxidizer
is 25% of the LEL. With CEM equipment, the allowance is up to 50%
loading. Several manufacturers break these rules and advertise
that they can operate 60-80% of the LEL safely. PRM warns against
this as this is a liability that endangers human life and property.
Electric Catalytic or Gas? Which way do I go?
Electric Oxidizers: PRM offers both Electric
Catalytic and Catalytic Convertible Thermal Oxidizers. For
remediation projects, the Electric oxidizers have shown that they
operate more efficiently than do Gas fired units and uptime is usually
much higher.
For sites that will have high initial concentrations, PRM asks that
you consider the overall site loading over the course of time.
Usually when an electric unit is installed on a hot site, the system is
tuned back during the first month to allow for a steady state of
influent VOCs to the oxidizer. Over 90% of hot sites are ran more
efficiently with the Electric Units.
Catalytic Convertible Gas Oxidizers: If the site
is extremely hot and Gas Fired oxidization is the technology to use,
then PRM manufactures a line of Catalytic Convertible Gas fired
thermal oxidizers. These units prove to be more reliable than others due
to our plenum and combustion burner design. A typical gas fired
oxidizer may only yield 98-99% destruction whereas a comparable PRM unit
will typically offer >99.99% of destruction. The difference is our
unique design that allows for a through mixing of the inlet gases being
directed into the burner. Most manufacturers rely on the ambient
mixing in the body of the oxidizer to provide oxidation. The
gases and air are heated to 1400° Fahrenheit and
destruction occurs. With the PRM design, the inlet gases are
heated to much higher temperatures at the exhaust of the burner.
These temperatures are typically in excess of 3000°
Fahrenheit. At these temperatures, it is natural for increased
oxidation to occur.
When is Catalytic mode, the Gas fired unit
really shines as supplying superior oxidation over the competition.
Catalytic units typically run with a combustion chamber temperature of
550° to 800°
Fahrenheit. This reduced temperature yields much lower destruction
efficiencies with competing units, because the Catalyst is doing all the
work. With the PRM unit, the inlet gases are still exposed to the
tremendous temperatures at the discharge of the burner which are
typically in excess of 2000° Fahrenheit at this point. This allows
for a majority of the oxidation of the gases to happen prior to final
oxidization from the catalyst module. Results are extremely high
levels of destruction.
PRM Gas oxidizers also offer the balanced
control from a gas-ratio regulator driving the gas valve. Typical
oxidizers have a gas valve controlled by the temperature in the oxidizer
body. With the PRM unit, the gas valve is driven off of the
combustion air blower operating pressures. What this means is that
less gas is used, reducing operational costs. Design

ELECTRIC
CATALYTIC OXIDIZERS
PRM manufactures Electric Catalytic
oxidizers for destruction of VOCs from off gas equipment.
The CatOx-E electric catox unit offers
destruction efficiencies to 99.99% destruction using the
latest monolithic low temperature catalyst modules. With a
70% preheat efficient heat exchanger standard, the
CatOx-E catox units offer the most
energy efficient means of VOC destruction available on the
market. When compared to gas-fired oxidizers, most people
quickly see the benefit of these units. CatOx-E catox units
offer the ease of maintenance and also much higher "UPTIME"
than is available with any other type of oxidizer, whether
it be thermal or catalytic.

PRM offers the CatOx-E unit for destruction of high
levels of VOCs. Unlike gas fired units which have a
difficult time responding to slugs, the CatOx-E unit is
available with a 3-way valve that is easily implemented with SVE
or dual phase blowers. Keep in mind that a typically 500cfm
unit is able to oxidize 750 pounds per day of VOCs or
roughly 100-125 gallons per day. That is 3000+ gallons per
month. With these high VOC applications, very low power
requirements are required of the unit. Please talk to us
regarding your oxidizing needs.

Pictured here is a catalyst module for a 300cfm
oxidizer. This single catalyst module offers for >98%
destruction at 500 degrees Fahrenheit. PRM catalyst modules
are provided by Sud Chemie Prototech and offer superior
catalytic destruction given their excellent cell density of
400cpi (cells per inch). For high particulate loading
applications a 230 cpi unit is available.
All PRM CatOx-E catalytic oxidizers are manufactured of
T304 Stainless Steel. The entire inner shell, heat
exchanger and ducting are manufactured from T304 SS. 6" of
insulating refractory material keeps the heat inside and the
outer shell cool to the touch.
Units are available from 100 to 5000scfm. 300 and
600scfm rental units are available, typically kept in
inventory for quick delivery. All
rental units are
available for purchase as a lease buyout.
Key Benefits
- All electric
- 5-10 minute preheat time (maximum)
- 70% preheat efficient heat exchanger
- No hassles with gas supplies (natural or propane)
- Automatic restart on power failure
- LEL sensors and strip chart recorders available
- Ability to replace or add catalyst modules in less
than 30 minutes
- Adjustable response times
- Much lower liabilities than gas fired units because
these units are truly flameless
- Optional web based monitoring to monitor and log
temperatures and air flow. Much more reliable than
the old school chart recorders. The regulators
absolutely love these and we are sure you will too.

THERMAL
OXIDIZERS

|
Gas Fired Thermal Oxidizers are typically used for destruction of
VOCs. When operated in a straight thermal mode, the
units are fired to 1400F and retention times are 1.5
seconds. Destruction is typically >99.999% for VOCs.
When operated in catalytic mode, the units are fired to 700F
and destruction is typically >99%. PRM uses a unique
90 degree burner tube and we crossfire the inlet fume
directly into the most intent flame of the burner.
Cross firing is done where there is no potential for creation
of erratic flame. Cross firing of the fume into the
burner provides destruction that other oxidizers do not
obtain.
PRM Gas Fired Thermal Oxidizers are the safest oxidizers on the
market. We go to additional steps to ensure safety.
These safety steps are invisible to the operator as the PLC
controller is providing background scans at an extremely
rapid pace, looking for potential problems. We have
anticipated all possible scenarios for unsafe conditions.

CATALYST
MODULES

PRM
manufactured oxidizers use only the best available catalyst
modules. PRM uses primarily the Sud Chemie Pro VOC II
catalyst module for destruction of VOC's. The catalyst
module is a monolithic module with a cell density of
400cpi. Activity begins at the 350 degrees Fahrenheit range
and destruction is superior to any others on the market.
Sud Chemie provides QC that is second to none. Electric
Catalytic oxidizers typically run at a base temperature of
550F and Thermal Oxidizer units run a base temperature of 700F. Please
contact PRM for the best suitable operating temperatures.
